It has been a long time since I've been planning to build myself an online portfolio. At last, this weekend, I got sick with a flu (could be Swine Flu? Hehe) and couldn't go anywhere. And I ran out of excuses not to do this!

After almost 4 hours on the road from Manila to Talisay, Batangas (this includes lunch at Grace, Sister of Rose, Restaurant), we arrived at Club Balai Isabel. On our arrival, we were greeted by the mass of guests staying at this fully booked resort and a number of courteous (and not so courteous) staff. I immediately explored the resort grounds with my son, David.

After a 2-hour drive from Manila, running through mountain passes and thick rainforests, we arrived at the Caylabne Bay Resort. There were 11 of us, the parents, my brother's family, me, my wifey, David and Natalie.

This is Old man Mar. For some reason, I can't seem to keep up with his game. I've played and beat players that constantly beat him. But with Mang Mar, as we call him, I always get massacred. Even after reviewing our matches, I can't find a strategy or weakness.

It has been a long time since I last posted a photo on my gallery. I've been having a slump, not just on photography, but on Post-processing and posting too. I'm thinking, I might just be too busy lately. Although, I still have some photos from our August 2007 visit to the US I haven't posted yet. So, it isn't really work that's been preventing me from posting.

It has been a while since I really wrote on this blog. I'm having a slump, both in blogging and photography. I still have some photos from our US trip, August last year, that I haven't posted to the gallery yet. That's how slumped I am right now, if that's even a word. BUT! I'm not here to talk about photography but about our Family Mug!

I was recently contracted to develop a corporate branding identity for a logistic firm in the US. They hired me to design a new logo, develop their website, produce content and design some marketing collaterals (brochures, business cards, etc.)

Yesterday, I was looking for books about logo designs as I needed to design a logo for a client. This isn't my first time to design a logo, but this is the most difficult as they already have a logo, and a really good one too. It's for a logistic firm in the US and they just wanted to have a new one as they are currently in the process of rebranding.

The most wonderful thing happened last Friday. I saw the most beautiful girl in the whole world. With her sparkling eyes, puffy cheeks, pouty lips and round bald head!

More pictures from Chicago, still from our vacation last August. Now, from the Millenium Park and the Big Alien Bean!

We recently went to the states for my Sister's wedding and to visit a whole lot of our relatives there. We went to Chicago and then to Las Vegas and then to San Francisco and then to LA. I was able to upload some of our pics in Chicago.

This year, we started the summer with a very long holiday weekend. Work and school stopped from April 5 to 9 to celebrate the Holy Week (Jesus' Death and Resurrection). This was a great opportunity to escape the city and spend our time on the beach. Which is exactly what we did.

Celebrated Ninong (Uncle) Greg's birthday at Doc's Pool House in Los Banos. Just a simple celebration for the kids. After swimming, went around the neighborhood and we saw a deserted swimming pool. It was full of frogs, and of course for me and my son, this was really interesting. Next time we go here, I'm going to bring a small container and catch some frogs to put in an aquarium. I always wanted to have pet frogs. Hehe.

We recently went to Tagaytay Highlands for my sister-in-law's birthday. The food was great and the view was awesome! We had a great time! There was a mini zoo, which, my 3 year old son loved, being an animal lover and all.

Dodge and burn is one of the most useful tools a photographer should have in his arsenal. Although it doesn't necessarily mean using the Dodge and Burn tool in the Photoshop Palette. Dodging and Burning can be achieved in a number of ways. It can be done by adding a Levels layer and masking parts of it over the image to isolate the effects. It can be painting white or black on a transparent layer and blending it on the image. However you want to do it, Dodging and Burning is just darkening or lightening up parts of an image.

Hammie was once a small Syrian "Teddy Bear" Hamster. He was a jolly little chap, running and jumping around, always trying to escape his cage. We bought him last week from the Pet Shop, and of course, gave him our caring and loving. For a whole week we fed him, played with him, and let him run around parts of our house. We even brought him in our bedroom and put a little flash light on him so we can watch him as we fall asleep.

My son really loves to play rough, run around, move a lot, and bounce around in places. If you meet him in person, you would think he's got ADHD i.e. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Some people have mistaken him for being too aggressive. I'd say he's just a spirited little boy. So a visit to the children's museum suited him fittingly. It served as a field trip for our homeschool.
This museum appealed to David. It's called Museo Pambata, it's an interactive children's museum, where kids are encouraged to touch, feel, examine, and try everything save for a few dusty artifacts which would not even catch their attention. David is not an initiate in the world of museum. We already been to a number of museums in Chicago. We've seen the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and the Adler Planetarium. He's only 2 years old back then. He enjoyed looking at the sea creatures.
